Market Analysis
The global entrepreneurship landscape continues to expand as individuals, startups, and businesses increasingly pursue innovation, digital transformation, and new market opportunities. The latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2025/2026 report, based on more than 160,000 individuals across 53 economies, indicates that entrepreneurial activity remains strong, with startup rates reaching record levels in many regions. At the same time, the report identifies important challenges, particularly the gap between launching a business and building sustainable, established companies.
Artificial intelligence, digital platforms, sustainability, and technology-driven business models are becoming major forces in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. AI is increasingly influencing product development, marketing, operations, customer engagement, and business decision-making, while entrepreneurs are also pursuing ventures that address environmental and social challenges. However, differences in access to technology, funding, education, and entrepreneurial support continue to affect the ability of startups to scale successfully.
Paris and the wider Île-de-France region remain important European hubs for startups, innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship. More than one-third of French startups are located in Île-de-France, with Paris hosting more than half of the region's startups. The region also benefits from a strong network of incubators, accelerators, investors, research institutions, and business-support organizations.
Overall, the entrepreneurship ecosystem is expected to be increasingly shaped by AI adoption, digital innovation, sustainable business models, access to finance, internationalization, and stronger startup support systems. These developments create significant opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, corporations, and policymakers to collaborate and build resilient, innovative, and sustainable businesses.
